NSGIC Job Postings Policy
It is the mission of the NSGIC Communications Committee "to promote the timely and effective collection and dissemination of information of importance to the NSGIC membership, directors and officers, sponsors, and partners, in support of NSGIC organizational goals and policies." To that end, job announcements and recruitments directed toward NSGIC and its primary public sector constituents of "states, commonwealths, territories, protectorates, tribal affiliations, and similarly recognized civil jurisdictions ... located within the geographic boundaries of, or under the sovereign domain of, the government of the United States of America," are appropriate to be shared and distributed to the NSGIC membership via NSGIC communications media.
The NSGIC Board of Directors does not condone the advertising of job announcements and recruitment of potential employees for private sector firms in its organizational communications (newsletter, website, listserves, etc.). The Board feels that more appropriate resources exist in other venues to advertise and promote geospatial career opportunities, such as professional organizations (URISA, ASPRS, AAG, etc.), blogs and listserves (e.g., GISjobs), websites (e.g., GISCafe), and publications (e.g., GeoWorld). The board feels that these resources are more than sufficient to cover the demands of the current geospatial job market.
