NSGIC is more than a professional organization; the true value of NSGIC lies in its members. It is a community of passionate geospatial professionals working together to advance the use of geospatial technology, policy, and best practices. Whether you’re new to NSGIC or a longtime member, there are countless ways to connect, contribute, and get involved. Committees, Working Groups, Initiatives, and Communities activities and meetings are ongoing and can be joined at any time.  The Board of Directors are elected annually according to the NSGIC bylaws.

Discover new ideas, collaborate, build partnerships, and expand your network.  NSGIC hosts two in-person conferences each year, along with webinars, virtual meetings, discussion forums, and other networking opportunities throughout the year.

Action-oriented volunteers collaborate to advance and drive the outcomes of initiatives and projects.  Working groups may be working on one or more NSGIC initiatives and may have 1-5 co-chairs.  Participation may be limited to NSGIC members.

These are things in the geospatial industry that NSGIC wants to influence or help accomplish, and they can be worked on by one or more working groups. Participation may be limited to NSGIC members.

Communities and Interest Groups are broadly based around a single topic or a bigger initiative whose purpose is to keep people informed. The intent is to share information and outcomes to the NSGIC community and stakeholders. NSGIC members and others outside of NSGIC may participate.

Help guide and support NSGIC’s mission and operations. Committees work on the things that are necessary for NSGIC to exist. Committees can be populated by any type of member except for the Finance and Elections committees: only state members may be part of those committees.

One of the highest levels of service within NSGIC, serving on the board is one of the strongest commitments an individual can make to support NSGIC’s mission and activities.
