GIS 101: NSDI | December 18, 2024

The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is one of those things that means something different to many of us. In this NSGIC GIS 101 webinar, Frank Winters, former New York State GIO, will help explain the NSDI from the NSGIC perspective. This webinar should create a common base of understanding for those new to the NSDI by sharing experiences from those who have been working to help this important effort to reach its potential. Our hope is for you, the viewer, to feel more at ease about your understanding of the NSDI, what it is, what it could/should be, and what your role might be. We will start by introducing a bit of the background of the NSDI, the Geospatial Data Act, the Federal Geographic Data Committee, and the National Geospatial Advisory Committee. We will highlight some shining examples of effective collaboration, and wrap up with a vision for what the NSDI can be.

This webinar is designed to provide the basics of the NSDI in the hopes the listener may feel comfortable as they further their understanding of the NSDI through the NSGIC NSDI podcast series where we take participants through in-depth discussions about the many aspects of the NSDI efforts.
